DISTRICT STUDENTS EXCEL ON STATEWIDE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT

Students in Redlands outperformed their peers when compared to county and statewide results on the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress or CAASPP. District students saw improvements, in almost every grade level, in both math and language arts.

“By almost every measure we're measuring up and exceeding in some areas, when compared to the county and statewide results,” said District Superintendent, Lori Rhodes. “This is indicative of the intentionality of our instructional program, and our focus in the area of student performance,” she continued.

The assessment was administered to all students in grades 3 through 8, and high school students in grade 11 this past spring. The district saw larger numbers of students in all grade spans achieving the state goal of “Met or Exceeded State Standards.” Overall 59% of students in English Language Arts and 44% of students in math met this goal. This represents grown of 6 percentage points in ELA and 4 percentage points in Math.

In order to better understand how their student progressed, each parent will receive individual score reports in the mail, detailing their student’s performance.

This short video will illustrate how to read your student's Score Report Card. Additionally, the California Department of Education has created a comprehensive online resource for families to learn more about state testing, understand score reports, and follow your student’s progress. Check it out here!

“We're proud of our District, and congratulate the teachers, students, and staff for their hard work on this assessment,” said Rhodes.
