Special Day Classes
SPECIAL DAY CLASSES provide services to students who have more intensive needs. Students are assigned for a majority of the school day in special day classes and are grouped according to similar instructional needs. Special Day Class teachers work cooperatively with general classroom teachers and IEP personnel, helping identify, assess, and plan programs for students with exceptional needs, as well as providing classroom instruction. Students in SDC programs access core curricula, tied to state standards. Some programs focus on state standards tied to life-skills.
Our special day classes are designed to meet the needs of students with mild to moderate disabilities, as well as others to meet severe needs. Redlands USD is committed to providing each of our students with as many opportunities in the regular education setting as is practical.
