California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)
The California High School Exit Exam is a graduation requirement beginning with the Class of 2006. It is a two-day exam that covers Mathematics and English-Language Arts state standards. Students will take the exam for the first time in the spring of their sophomore year. Students who do not pass one or both parts of the CAHSEE will have up to 5 opportunities to retake the exam including one final time after grade 12 when all other graduation requirements have been met. Students retake only the part(s) of the exam not previously passed.
Support Options
Students who do not pass the California High School Exit Exam are identified and offered support during the school day by teachers and counselors.
CAHSEE Prep classes are offered during Summer School for grades 9-12 in Mathematics and English/Language Arts.
Mini CAHSEE Prep classes in Mathematics and English/Language Arts are also offered prior to each CAHSEE administration for those students who have not yet passed.
Elementary and Middle Schools offer before school/after school/during school intervention classes for those students who are at risk of not passing the CAHSEE.
Summer Intervention classes are also offered for grades 2-8.
